Ever since I was a child, I loved wedding gowns. I used to sneak into my mother’s closet to look at her wedding dress when she was not home. She had no issue with showing it to me, however if she had known how lots of hours I spent practically drooling over it, she probably would have freaked out a bit. I had pretty immature tastes back then – unsurprising since I was a kid. I adored wedding gowns because they looked so soft and fluffy. They were similar to cakes, and they made whoever wore them look partway between a princess and a pastry. I could not get enough.

Back when I was buying discount wedding gowns at secondhand shops and wearing them to school with assorted punk rock alterations to shock my schoolteachers, I never dreamed that one day I would be a wedding designer. You see, as much as I loved wedding gowns, I was not specifically enamored of weddings. I was very independent, and I could not imagine spending my whole life with one guy, raising children, and residing in a boring suburban corner of the world like my parents did. I wanted action and adventure. I wanted to be a mountain climber or a park ranger, or maybe a pro photographer.

One thing I did not wish to be was a bride. I have never been an individual who was totally into weddings. I was never planning my dream wedding, picking out my wedding songs and writing lists of my bridesmaids since I was 5 years of age. I never heard standard love songs that people use for wedding songs on the radio and instantly exclaimed, “That is going on my list of wedding songs!”

Nonetheless, in spite of my total lack of interest in the overall concept of weddings, I was still amazed by wedding fashion. I loved when I was able to see outdoor weddings at the community park. We lived by a gorgeous state park complete with the rivers, lakes, and gorgeous rolling hills. There was a little wedding ceremony chapel there, and they would regularly rent it out. My boyfriend at the time must have thought I was giving him messages! I made him sit there with me all afternoon, watching the wedding party. Perhaps he thought I had dreams of long-term romance, but such feelings were furthest from my mind. I was excited about it simply from a fashion perspective.

Now that I’m preparing for my own wedding, I’m struck by how different the experience is from that of helping other folks get ready for their big day. Creating wedding gowns is easy. Even though there are vintage designs, modern designs, classic designs, and many other variations, it does not amount to all that much range. There are only a few things to keep track of, and if you appreciate the clothes it’s easy. Picking out one for yourself, on the other hand, is another matter. It is probably the hardest part is getting married.

Napa Valley is truly an unbelievable Mediterranean oasis in the middle of Californias gorgeous rolling hills. Nestled inside of what many refer to as the "wine country," Napa is world-renowned for the incredible grapes and wine it produces. Visitors to the town will be astounded by both the incredible beauty of the area as well as the amazing amount that wine has infiltrated the culture here.
